What is a Student Volunteer?
Student volunteers help with Academy booths, educational sessions and events at AudiologyNOW! In exchange for their time, volunteers receive free registration.
What are the Requirements for Becoming a Student Volunteer?
- You must be a current member of the Student Academy of Audiology. Not a member? Join Now!
- You must register to be a volunteer. This is in addition to submitting a membership application.
- You must be a student actively enrolled in a graduate program or in a clinical study setting at the time of AudiologyNOW! 2012 (March 28-31, 2012).
What are the Terms of Acceptance?
- You must agree to volunteer up to 5 hours of your time at AudiologyNOW!
- You must renew your membership on or before December 31, 2011 or risk losing your volunteer status.
- Plan Travel Accordingly: You will select your volunteer time based upon available slots the day you register. You should plan to arrive early to make it to your volunteer assignment on time. If you fail to make your assignment, you will be responsible for $240, the on-site price of student member registration.
- Cancellation Policy: Volunteers who cancel after March 16, 2012 will be responsible for $240, the on-site price of student member registration. Be considerate of your fellow students who are waiting for a volunteer slot to open up and cancel as soon as you know you will not be able to make it.
- No-show Policy: Student who do not successfully complete their assignments will be responsible for the on-site price of student member registration.
How Do I Apply? When does Student Volunteer Registration Open?
Student volunteers will be able to apply online when AudiologyNOW! registration opens on November 1, 2011, 11am ET. Online registration is only available to students with current SAA membership. If your membership is not current, you will need to fax or mail your membership materials. Please note, it may take up to 24 hours to process your membership request. Once your membership is current, you will be able to apply as a student volunteer. Don't miss out on selecting the prime time slots - renew or join today!
How Do I Know if I am Accepted as a Volunteer?
After your online student volunteer registration is processed, you will automatically be e-mailed an acceptance letter. If you have not received an e-mailed acceptance letter within twenty-four hours of registering, it is your responsibility to contact the Academy.
How do I cancel my Student Volunteer registration?
Email your cancellation to studentvolunteers@audiology.org

Do you have a Wait list?

Can I pass my Student Volunteer position down to a classmate/friend if I cannot attend?
No. There is a list of students that have been on the wait list since the opening of registration, when volunteer positions filled. To be fair to students eagerly waiting on the wait list, you can not hand a volunteer time slot down to a classmate or friend.
When Will I be Volunteering?
You will select your volunteer assignment time when you register. This is based on a first-come, first-served basis of available slots.

How early should I check-in before my assignment starts?
Be sure to plan your travel accordingly to allow yourself enough time to make it your assignment on time. Your assignment time starts when you need to be at the designated location. Please allow yourself time to check-in at the Student Volunteer desk in SAA Central 15 minutes prior to your start time and also time to walk to your assignment location.
Is there a Student Volunteer orientation?
There is no mandatory Student Volunteer Orientation, though students are encouraged to attend the First Time Attendee Orientation - Students Only! event to learn more about the show and how to take advantage of all the services, sessions and events. The Students Only Orientation will be on Wednesday, March 28th from 3:45 – 4:30pm (location TBD).
What if I registered as a Student Member but want to still check to see if volunteer slots become available?
If you registered and paid as a Student Member, but would still like to check for Student Volunteer availability, follow these steps:
- At http://registration3.experient-inc.com/showAUD121/Default.aspx check the terms and conditions boxes and click "go to student volunteer registration”.
- Login using your Academy ID and Last Name
- Click "View/Modify”
- Scroll down to the "Pending Purchases” box and click "Change Assignment Selection”
- If you see an available time slot you would like to register for, make note of the date/time assignment and contact customer service immediately at 1.866.229.2386.
Money Saving Tip: Can’t afford to stay an extra night? A bag check area will be provided at the Boston Convention and Exhibition Center for luggage storage if you have checked out of your hotel before you complete your assignment for the day.
Monday Assignments: Volunteers can finish their assignment before AudiologyNOW! begins by becoming a bag stuffer. This is recommended for students attending schools near the location of AudiologyNOW! This assignment will occur before the start of AudiologyNOW! and should only be requested if you are able to arrive early.
How Do I Reserve Housing?
Housing reservations are included in the online registration process. If you are rooming with others, only one housing reservation should be made by one of the individuals staying in the room. That individual will be able to list the other occupants on their housing reservation page. Duplicate reservations on other registration forms could result in hotel room cancellation fees.
How Do I Reserve Tickets for Events with Admission Fees?
Options for paid events are available with online reservation.
What is the SAA Mix & Mingle?
The SAA Mix & Mingle is a networking reception for ALL students attending AudiologyNOW! You do not need to be a volunteer to attend the SAA Mix & Mingle so come and enjoy!
